If you are interested in volunteering with us please contact us - you can join our work parties, River Wardens, Constable Country Volunteer Rangers and Beachwatch events, or we welcome those who might like an opportunity for gaining (graduate, voluntary) work experience with us.

Protected Landscapes Volunteer Placement – 2017/18

Working in a small team, you will have the opportunity to participate in regular practical conservation tasks in varied locations throughout both the Dedham Vale and Suffolk Coast & Heaths Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs). These will include activities such as footpath waymarking; hedgerow management; river restoration and Beachwatch events. These tasks usually involve working with a team of volunteers so there is plenty of opportunity to hone your skills in organising and delivering small-scale conservation projects.

You will assist with varied administrative and project support, there will be opportunities to work with MapInfo GIS, assimilate information, write reports and deal with general enquiries from members of the public. You will develop and maintain good working relationships with the team, partner organisations and other volunteers.

Developing your own ideas and Projects:
You will be encouraged to participate in a wide variety of AONB work. There will be opportunities to develop your own research or small conservation project ideas and we’ll support you to apply for small grants if you want to deliver a specific project.

Your time: Ideally, a minimum commitment of 3 days a week for a period of 6 months from October 2017, however, we are flexible and these arrangements can be negotiated.
More information: Please contact Paula Booth or Cathy Smith for an informal conversation about the role. Tel: 01394 445225
